Yes, I notice that tendency in myself... getting bogged down in the minutiae of demands, and many words! And also letting people who are SO different from me really get under my skin! Reflecting on Paula's words, I decided to have a look at see 'What Jesus did do... 'I found dozens of situations (of course!) where he just invited himself round to people's houses, and over a meal, raised a few good questions - Some were only too delighted to do something about their lifestyle: Zacchaeus paid back all the money he had screwed out of the system, Levi completely changed his life around, Simon the Leper was given a lesson in the sort of prodigal generosity that was completely acceptable to Jesus... it all seemed to be adding up to something not merely rational or intellectual, but rather intuitive, heart-based, at the point of receptivity to the sacred, as Paula says: it gets personal! I wonder if I could wangle my way into a BNP 'do'? Now there's a thought! Thanks for enlarging my world view!
